Before moving in: prepare the empty home.

A practical South guide · Local edition

An empty home lets you review areas that will later sit behind boxes and furniture. When coordinating pre-move cleaning in Miami or Hialeah, confirm when you get the keys and when movers arrive.

Define move-in tasks

Request cabinet and closet interiors before storing belongings. Include the kitchen, bathrooms, surfaces and floors. Specify oven, refrigerator or window interiors, because the provider must quote for those tasks.

Check that repairs are finished. If painting, installation or material deliveries are still planned, another cleaning visit may be needed later. Explain this when requesting a quote.

Coordinate access and utilities

Explain parking, elevators and building approvals. Confirm working conditions such as water and electricity when the method requires them. Allow a gap between cleaning and furniture delivery that the provider considers appropriate.

Review before moving in

Use the agreed list to check the result. Cleaning does not replace an inspection for damage or whether the home’s systems function.

Common question

Is it better to clean before bringing furniture? It makes many areas easier to reach. Coordinate keys, repairs and timing first.
